We will be doing a moderately strenuous day hike to Wakely Mountain which is located in the Central Adirondack Mountains. The mountain's elevation is 3744 and the climbing ascent we will make is 1650 feet in a 3 mile hike. Wakely Mtn boasts the highest fire tower in New York State at 82 feet and has unobstructed 360 views giving a unique perspective of the West Canada Lakes wilderness area to the south, and great views of the high peaks to the north on clear days. It has been said that there are never crowds on this mountain so is a great place for peace and solitude. The weather forecasted for Thursday looks to be great so I hope we can get a good group of mid week hikers to join us for a very enjoyable day. Mary Fox will be leaving Colonie at around 7:15 AM and meeting me at the unofficial park n' ride just off of exit 16 on the corner of Ballard Road and Gurnsprings Road.
